If I lived in the tundra I wouldn't worry about it too much - but on a hot summer day I would definitely want the fan -

I also went with Sachs fan clutch mine took a dump shortly after I took ownership at 9 years of age yet only 62k miles - (another example of age taking a toll on parts rather than miles)
