front parking sensor woes

Pdc woes go on kind of, well after rear ending someone & sensor cables getting cut & father in law soldering em back together again I thought good idea to get my shattered number plate replaces….I fixed the damaged backing plate that it sits on by using of all things a clothes peg from IKEA made of p/e albeit low density polyethylene…set it alight and let is drip all round the point I wanted to sure up! Did this as could find no other glue holds to this type of plastic…….all plastic glues I found mention not suitable for PE PP or Styrofoam.
I attached my new plate to the front, in process gave bumper a few good nudges…..low and behold on starting car pdc system was not working again! One long beep and then zilch…..took bumper off straightened out the cables to the sensor and up and syetme live again, only issue I could see was that the cables on sensor were shorter than those on the other identical sensor probably becos my father in law in an attempt to solder em sheared off cable….so all I could think of was to get some electrical cord (alas not exactly the same thickness as the sensor cable) and solder and lengthen cables….put heat shrink on each individual soldered part and where possible some insulation tape too…..and all back in place now…..and seems ok BUT anyone have any idea if the back of the pdc sensor (its connector&cables) up front actually makes contact with any part of the chassis after the darn bumper is put on? Just concerned that if there is any flexing of the bumper/chassis etc it will bugger up my connections to the pdc again

thanks
