All good, touch wood...

I thought it would be pleasant to post a positive thread, not complaining about an issue or asking for assistance for a change.
I'm very happy to report that my E53 is performing extremely well, after regular on-going and preventative maintenance. My recently replaced HID's and coolant reservoir have addresses minor issues that are related to the age of my vehicle more than anything else. A recent 900 km trip in 45C+ temperatures revealed that the cooling system works as it should, although the air-con did struggle a little to keep the all black interior cool. The 'night-stalkers' illuminate the road well and it's nice to no longer hear that bloody annoying chime and see the warning on the dash, informing me that I have headlamp issues and to check coolant level...
The E53 remains one of my favourite vehicles to drive (I have a selection to choose from). Its refined nature, comfort and features always put a smile on my face. I hope you are all still enjoying your ride as much as I do mine.

kvc,

Interesting to hear you "upgraded" the headlights when you replaced the D2S HID lamps - so you went with the Osram Night Breakers then? And is your E53 equipped the same as the models over here, where the HID lamps are low beam only? And it make a difference on the open road at night?

Sorry for al the questions - just trying to get my head around this headlight upgrade thing.

Yes - the same models as you guys in NZ. I have noticed a 20-30% increase in illumination on low beams, as a result of replacing the OEM's with nightbreakers. Possibly because the OEM's were quite old & tired. Interestingly, they were made in Hungary of all places and a brand I've never heard of before (not Philips). So definitely worth the eBay wait from a UK seller (about 1/2 the price of local offerings).

Thanks for putting the 'kybosh' on me .... Seriously though, I don't usually mention tyres, overheating or other 'issues' to avoid tempting 'Murphy's Law'. I simply wanted to say that my car is 'becoming' reliable and as a result is more enjoyable...

Perhaps it's just me after a while of ownership, knowing what to 'look out for'?
