Having been told by my mechanic (trusted) my abs module was kaput and it would be $1,500 for a new one, I set about researching options on this site and others for a more reasonable alternative-the horror stories about removing half the front end were almost enough to make me shell out the cash. Upon closer inspection (and this may be just on my yr. model) it's 6 bolts with a star-trax head. Kinda tight in there but 20 minutes max. to remove. Followed all the advice about covering up exposed parts so I could drive the vehicle. Found a guy on ebay with great reviews who rebuilt it with a lifetime guarantee for $88 in about 2 weeks (website says 2-3 days) Plugged it in, drove around 5 minutes and VIOLA! Trifecta lights gone, speedo and cruise came back, -plus the SES light went off as well. Made my freakin day! Just thought I'd share this solution to a way too common complaint on the E53: $1,500 or $100- easy math....
DO THE MATH!
