2001 BMW X5 Passenger door won't open

Hello,
My 2001 BMW X5 passenger door handle won't open both inside or outside.
Do anyone how to open the door and also anyone can provide me the part number to the outside door handle carrier. Do I go with the BMW Genuine part or go with URO or Bavarian Autosport brand. Can someone confirm the part number is 51 21 8 243 616. The price for BMW part is $147 compare to $47 for Bavarian part. which part should I get. Please help.

Thanks Henry

That is the correct part number. I replaced both sides (left PN ends in a 5) 2 months ago. I went with the Febi Bilstein part, and am happy with that choice. Perfect fit, looks good, paid around $80 for both sides, from RMEuropean.com.

Not sure what to say about opening your door though. Mine opened from the inside, and actually the left side was a pre-emptive repair, that I found to have already half failed when I got in there.

Wow, stuck at both inside and outside that is a challenge.

I use the China $25 handles and have had good luck with them (not with China window regulators though, always go with BMW made for those).

Here's a DIY, hope it helps:
