If you are leaking oil in the same place the dealer is now claiming then you have the oring leaking at the engine mount bracket, bracket to engine block. At the connection flange.

The OP was talking about the M62 V8 engine. This differs from the inline 6 that you are referring to.

Yes that O ring seal behind the mount is a very common wear item that once addressed leaky leaky goes away.

^There's an oil passage behind the engine mount???!!! WTF. Is it blocked off like the alternator bracket on an n62 or is there a line or something that goes through there?

I can't vouch for N62 but the M62 4.6is has o-ring on the oil adapter mount that lies strategically behind the alternator timing cover housing. So to access it when you do the timing cover top and bottom this is an excellent time to do the oil line mount gasket/ o-ring. I just hate leaks

I agree, I hate leaks too... unfortunately with BMW's there is usually an "acceptable seepage" rule. I've had to adopt it or I'd be pulling my hair out. I'll replace gaskets/seals anytime I have to add oil between oil changes (6000 miles w/ full synth). One of the reasons my VSS will be done in the very near future on my 4.8. I have great respect for those who own BMW's and accept no oil leaks/seepage. Great respect indeed.

As for that oil adapter, it seems like an incredibly poor position for it, but I'm sure BMW did it for packaging reasons or functionality. Seems like as bad an idea as the alternator mount gasket on the N62's though. But at least it does something... the N62 one is just a block off I believe.
