Something sounds wrong, possibly with the ECU. Assuming you have an automatic transmission, is this happening in the Sportronic shifting mode or automatic? I know for certain the 3.0 can easily get in excess of 6000+ RPM, I had mine redlined just the other day. Maybe someone on this board will have more technical advice if not go see the dealer.

Both faults show up on a Diagnostic machine,so my suggestion is to take it to the dealer or someone with Dis to confirm which fault it is. |

had the same problem!!!! waaahh!!!
guys, had the same problem on my x5 diesel.. just early this afternoon, as i head for the open road, floored my x5 then the rpm just stopped and wiggled at 3,000 rpms... then it won't go up.. and my speed is stuck at 90-100 kph... but when i drive the x5 normally, no flooring, it works just fine... what seems to be the problem??? waaahh!!! exactly the same problem as cimbro...
