I'm at 118,000+ miles, lots of engine mods and no symptoms. Only precaution I have taken is to replace the original design chain tensioner with the new design and somewhere around 115,000 miles I pulled the oil pan to check for timing guide pieces.

Okay all the more reason to go ahead and do the guides and timing chain. Are there leaks at the timing covers? I would do it for piece of mind down the road., Just saying it's what I would do. |

Xoutpost member Danny Z greatly assisted in getting my spare set powdercoated in Imola Red. THANKS DANNY! Since I have finally found my DREAM Imola Red / Black interior X5, I am in no hurry getting it going. It's low enough miles that I am just fixing, tweaking it to last another 10 years. I started the engine tonight. It had a scary 2 second start up. I installed a new chain tensioner. It rattled then quieted right down. Subsequent starts have been dead quiet and steady. I did notice that my clutch fan is wimpy. Time to replace it. Someone here mentioned a 7 series fan and blade combo. Is that the way to go?
