E53 Newbie - various issues and retrofit ideas

Just got myself a 2005 grey 3.0 X5 today

Straight gotten all the oil change/filter such as engine, gearbox, diff, brake.

Problems : Got a check lights issues and upon inspection I notice the headlight for angel eyes wiring was brittle thus exposing the physical wires... I guess that might be the root cause... is this normal for old X5? Any online DIY solution?

Anybody can suggest a bright LED angel eyes to replace the halogen ones while I am at it?

I recall another member mentioning brittle insulation. I don't recall the location of the wires. Based on my time here it is not a frequent problem.
