e53 Wipers, keys, door locks, horn, Cruise

OK. I know this is an old car, but I'm saving it for my son. A lot of things wrong. 2004 x5 3.0 with 210K Mi.

Problems:

- Wipers (front, rear and sprayers) just stopped working. Sometimes come on, sometimes freeze. Fuse OK, just got a new relay.
- Both key fobs don't activate anything. Dome light works.
- Horn and cruise stopped working. Wiper switch does nothing.

I contacted Scott Johnson for a GM3 fix and he said he couldn't help me, but couldn't also provide any direction or suggestions.

I saw some info on the steering wheel ring clock spring assembly, which is where I'm left for the cruise, horn and wipers.

Any other ideas? THANKS

Also, any suggestions for repairs in metro NY/NJ would be appreciated.

I'll swap out the Wiper relay, but after that, I'm not sure what to do!

UPDATE: Swapping out the tan RY-772 relay FIXED the Wiper issue! 45 min fix in the front e-box

Keys are most likely dead battery. You can diy those in 10 mins each with eBay battery and a basic solder kit.

Both key batteries dead same time?

Both had been working, and died at same time. Dealer parts guy also suggested new key. I'll try the battery fix on one, though. Thanks

Mine died within a few days from each other.. it's the age of the batteries more than usage..

Ignition Switch - Incredible solution to wipers, etc

Found an incredible solution to this problem on a post about the ignition switch on the e53. I swapped it out for a new one and these problems solved: - all wipers and washers now work. Cruise and all steering functions now work. Radio buttons work.

It's in a YouTube video on e53 ignition switch problems

UNBELIEVABLE!! CRAZY GERMANS!
