I visually did last night and just went and tested the one front and two rear fuses. All good. Re-seated connectors too. Might be a bad module. I might see if my indy can connect or wipe/reset. Not hopeful though. I've tried two software packages and neither can communicate.

I wonder, seeing as mine is an early 2004 build, that maybe I have to plug something in up front? Every other option I've added has worked (heated rears, heated steering, etc.)

Now was the TCU manufacture on the 6th day, 10 month of 2004, or did they follow our method of registering calendar day, 6th month, 10th day of 2004? If they follow our calendar standard the TCU does not have Bluetooth.

03.03.2006 is printed on it. I looked through the reference list others provided and got as late an IBUS one that I could find on the lists. 10 9 120 843 is part.

Check for 12V on pins 9 and 18 on the TCU that come from Fuse 74.

Thanks for the diagrams. I have power at fuse 74, but no power on 9, 18 or 1 on the connector. I'll have to get daylight to dig further behind the panels. Something isn't making it to the connector.

Look for Connector X400 to be disconnected?

Would the battery drain issue be fixed by installing a MOST loopback connector?

Everything seemed to be working for a day but last night before going to bed, I checked on the X5 in the garage and the system was awake. It had been at least 6 hours since I parked it so there should have been no reason it should have woke up. I pulled the codes from the TCU with BMW Scanner PA Soft 1.4 and posted the screenshot below. I did clear the codes and they came back empty but checked it again today after running errands and both are back.

My first thoughts are the replacement TCU I got off fleaBay has the same issue my last TCU did (if that is actually the problem). However, the odds are stacked against 2 identical issues with 2 separate TCU modules. I read on a previous post of yours from several years ago where you listed fuse 74 destinations:
  • Telematics Control Unit (TCU) or Universal Electronic Charging & hands-free unit (ULF)
  • Voice Input
  • Eject Box
  • Compensator

So, any advise on checking these other devices that may randomly wake the system up and cause the NAD Transceiver Failure or did I just match the odds of winning the lottery and get another failed TCU? I did disconnect the 2 devices I have on the iBus that are not OEM BMW (Dice and ModLight2) so I am still diagnosing. Again, everything is working perfect with the Bluetooth, voice command and TCU so I am not sure why is lists a TCU failure. Any thoughts would truly be appreciated.

I'm ashamed I never went back and updated my post in this thread. My problem after the TCU replacement fixed my sleep mode interruption and battery drain turned out to be the battery had been compromised. I had killed its ability to hold a charge with the multiple drains from the bad TCU. I put a new battery in it that week and have not had an issue in almost 3 years now.
