Vanos replaced knocking noise afterwards ...need help please.

HI guys
Engine was idling fine with a little of hesitation not alot got code p0012 ....so I swap maf sensors a little better
Code says intake solenoid so swaped boths solenoids and got the exhust now..! so that means that the solenoid is the culprit. So off I go to get a new one ..and replaced it ...turn on the engine and hear this clack clack clack noise from engine like out of time ....my question is did I install them incorrectly . is there a way to install them. ....is there certain angle orientation or is not all the way in ....thanks in advance. .....2004 e53 4.4is sport.

Did you buy the right sensor? Some sensors can not be swapped from one side to the other.

I think the only way to screw up the install is to not push them in far enough. I remember when I did mine had to give some good pressure to get them to click in all the way. Kind of a weird angle too and can be tricky to do. That would be my first guess
