Do I have the Sport package???

I have been looking online for tires and most pages ask if I have the Sport Package on my 2002 X5 3.0.

How do I tell if I do have this?

Thanks

What size tires are now on the X5? If they are 17 you do not have the sport package. If you have a 3.0 with 18 tires you may have the sport package if a PO didn't swap out the rims to 18.

Just go to the website and input your vin and see what was the original SAV came with.

I have 255/55 R18 now. I am wanting to know now for the tires but it may come up for other reasons in the future.
I have the exterior anthracite molding and black interior headliner and I read somewhere that could mean I have the sport package but not sure.

The stock tire package is 17s, if you have 18s or 19s, then you are on the way to having the Sports Package. The problem with this as the deciding factor is, one can upgrade from 17 to 18 or 19 reasonably cheaply.

The seats of the Sports Package are an upgrade that is a bit more costly to do. If yo have the thigh supports -- the section that slides from your thigh to your knee -- then this is a good sign. Lots of people will upgrade the tire size, not many will swap the seats.

2 ways you can tell,

1. there is a section here that tells you the features you have if you have or not
2. The sport tires are the bigger ones (as mentioned above) and they are the star shaped ones and the tires are a bit wider (not as wide as the ones on the E70) AND you have the clear signal indicators on the front and rear lamps

This is the answer that most agrees with my understanding. My '01 3.0i was originally thought to be a sport version because it had the 19" wheels that came with the 4.4 that year. Turns out that's the only sporty aspect to my truck.

The seats is a good clue. Basically, if the bottom part of the seat that your butt and thighs sit on is one piece, it is not a sport seat. If it is two parts so it can adjust forward to accommodate longer/shorter thighs, that indicates sport.

As far as actual suspension components, I think it is only the struts that are different. Not sure about springs. Pretty sure all the control arms, etc. are the same for sport/not.

Also, the sport steering wheel is 3-spoke, vs. 4 for non-sport. But as with the wheels, that's a fairly easy swap.

LOL, after all that I just re-read your original question. The tire site is just assuming you're clueless and would know if you've got sport/not rather than knowing the size of your wheels or the tire size you're looking for.

So if that's what you need this info for, sport/not does not matter at all, since it is so easy and common to put 19" wheels on a non-sport version. All that matters is what size wheels/tires you have/want.

It took a re-read to understand the OP's question...it does not matter about the 'Sport Pkg' part; it does matter what size wheels are currently on your X, and what size wheels you intend to keep/use/run.

Fwiw, our '01 3.0 was/is a Sport and came with 18" style 69s.
I have run 17" style 57s with snows, and for the past 10 years it has 19" Style 132s.

Hellsbells, there are old E53 X5s running 20" Style 187s, or even larger aftermkt wheels.

If you are re-tiring your current wheels, the wheel size will determine the nominal tire size, then pick your brand and poison.

I had a 2002 w/sport. Pretty sure the wheel diameter is larger than a non-sport. If you have a spare in the back, check that wheel as it is likely a stock, smaller wheel as the sport wheel/tire will not fit. Hope this helps.
