[X5 E53 NAV+DSP] EONON GA7166 INSTALLED...but NO SOUND

Folks,

Can someone tell what could have possibly gone wrong here. I stumbled on the 80/20 rule, and in this case the sound is 20 and took up 80% of install time. I am no expert in electronics or wiring, thankfully my brother in law helped out with the wiring harness. After completing all the connections I still do not have audio output and it is the case for all audio source including Radio, Bluetooth, CD. Everything else works including wheel controls. Though I have not fully tested GPS w/o WIFI. I perused the infamous Eonon "Hate" thread that turned out into a great Eonon DIY, but could not find the magic bullet in there (I probably missed it): https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...on-radios.html

My setup:
EONON GA7166 with Android 6 aka Mashmallow
2006 X5 4.8is with On-board monitor + DSP

I instant chatted with Eonon support Saturday night and they transferred the case to a tech that is not available until Monday morning (guess they are opening anytime now)
What in the world I am doing wrong?

We had this problem when the DSP adapter cable was not hooked up correctly to the head unit and the DSP amp. If you don't have DSP, consider that in order for any sound to make it through, you must have a connection between the head unit output and the speaker distribution/factory amp. Since you have no output at all, this single connecting point- DSP or not- is likely your issue.

Thanks for your input, I am looking into this.

Did you check the sound level on the original system before disconnecting it? The dsp should be turned off and sound set to mid level.

Yup tried that without success. Eonon asked me to try a different connection so I might tried again to see it it makes a difference.

I agree that the problem is more than likely a physical one.

UPDATE:
I now have audio. Went to a nearby car audio shop, with my explanation of the issue they quickly determined it must be the remote wire. When I returned with the vehicle ready to be worked on, they tested the remote wire connection and the power output at the amplifier and within 2 minutes sounds came up but did not last more than 45 seconds. Well the amplifier was also bad, so I decided to upgrade it in the process. Such a big difference in audio quality, I went with Alpine MRV500.

Without the investment in new Amp, Eonon GA7166 acquisition cost is:
Item cost: $309.00
Discount: ($15.00)
S&H: $0.00
Shop diagnostic: $30.00
Total: $324.00

In full disclosure, Eonon offered me to return the product (shipping on me). I was not too enthusiastic undoing all that work especially the 5M harness. Went on vacation to clear my head and decided to get pro help when I returned.

Next steps: Install Dash and backup cam

When mine gets in I'm going to get by to start with the factory amp but will be going aftermarket asap. The stock setup is pretty weak which you found out by going with the alpine.

It's day and night between OEM and aftermarket. I can really enjoy my ride now.
