What year X5 is it? The specs are a little different for the xDrive transfer case versus the older style transfer case. In my 2003 X5 4.6is (with the simple transfer case) I just used Valvoline Full Synthetic Dextron VI ATF. It's cheap and you can buy it any auto store.
My opinion is that it doesn't really matter what fluid you use in the transfer cases— as long as it's decent quality stuff it'll be fine. All it's doing is lubricating the chains and whatnot, unlike in an automatic transmission where it actuates the gears.
