Angry Locked out of X5 E53

I have a UK 2003 BMW X5 3.0l petrol car. The barrel on the driver side is not working and the electronic key is not working to open the doors. Is there any way of getting into my car short of smashing a window.

Ooops

Perhaps i should have clarified to avoid sarcastic replies. I apologise. I have searched this forum for circa 3 days for a solution. I have attempted most of the things with no joy. There is a mention of a way in from the boot but my X5 doesn't have a key hole at the boot. The battery is fully charhed on the car so I dont need charge points.

Thanks for the help in advance. No more need for pointless replies. We are all friends here.

There is an airbag type tool that some wrecker services have. They spread the upper door frame enough to get something through to push unlock button. Does no damage. Perhaps dealer has one?

Unfortunately the best way to get into the vehicle would be to drill out the door lock cylinder, and then order a replacement lock cylinder that is coded to your key.

Sarcastic replies not intended. The issue has been covered many times as you can see from the included post. Wish you well.

Well that's is going to be a waste of a couple of hundred euro or are you bloke still using the pounds?

The lock barrel is broken so a new key will not unlock the door. A new key will have the correct chip to start the engine, but it needs to be programmed to open the doors. A new key has to be programmed to open the door and that is not going to happen until you gain access to the inside.

If you do decides to break the glass I have a passenger side (right side door) or driver side window if you are driving on the right side of the car. Shipping will probably be prohibitive.

Our money still has the Queens head on it my friend, rightly or wrongly, we have decided for Brexit and the madness that is to leave the Germans and French (mainly the Germans) to continue to pay for Europe... (well Greece!)

Anyway, I have locked my Keys in the boot once and the Pano Roof was open in the slide position. I climbed up, got in and then the alarm went off and lights flashing. I then scrambled to the boot where I unlocked my car and opened the boot, where I calmly got out of the boot. Everyone at the local supermarket was looking at me thinking WHAT THE HELL.

In any case I was lucky. Hope you get it sorted.

The x5 "double locks". You can't either pull the handle nor hit the master central lock switch to open from inside. You have to do both (with alarm blaring of course). I have tested this myself from inside the car: lock with key fob and you are stuck inside. You have to hold the central lock button AND double-pull the door handle to open the door. (slows down the brick through the window thief since they can't open the doors.

When my door handle carrier was broken I had my cylinder out for a few days and used my pinky to lock and unlock my car. If the cylinder is acting wonky remove it and refurbish or replace it before you are extra stuck
