Is this normal shifting for a 4.6is?

Basically I'm pretty sure the torque converter is slowly going out. It has thrown a P0741 on occasion and driving feel isn't 100%. All things I've noticed when a TC isn't doing what it needs to. I've changed the fluid and filter and it was also done by the PO at some point. Not sure what mileage but the old filter I pulled out was from 2014. Two things are happening.

First, is when I'm driving on the highway in 5th there are times the X feels like it downshifts. I'm pretty sure it is just the Torque converter locking and unlocking but didn't want to assume. I've driven tons of autos and never had it feel like a legitimate downshift. I drive in manual mode and know I'm not downshifting. So is that just the TC acting normal or?

Secondly, there are times the X just doesn't feel like it's getting all the power to the pavement. RPM's will be around 4k in 2nd or 3rd and I feel like it's just not giving me what 4k feels like it 1st or 4th. Again wondering if the TC is just tired.

Thanks for the input
