AFE intake installed on 4.8

Recieved and installed my AFE intake for my 4.8

With the hood open and gently stepping on the gas, you can hear the "wooshing" sound as it sucks up air. While driving at full throttle after 4rpm it seems like there is a deeper engine note, but it could be just me because the 4.8 with the resonators removed is soo loud its almost possible to hear anything else.

I want to do a little mod and that is, get something that can cut metal and cut a little section out of the heat shield at the bottom. ... Now before you guys think im crazy, the reason for this is because there is a tube that comes from the lower part of the front bumper that also delievers air into the intake area, but the heat shield covers that. I think that if that tube was open and could have room to breathe the intake might get more air.
(check out the pic, the part that is circled is where the tube is sitting coverd by the heat shield)
