Air bag override

I need some advice, my air bag light has been flakey as has been the seatbelt warning and overhead seat occupied light. Had it reset when the car was in for service and was better but has since gotten worse, now airbag warning light is on all the time as is the overhead light. I assume, at least the airbag light and overhead light are related. Seeing as this is a U.S. Spec 2006 E53 with only 75k, is there an seat mat sensor override module out there? I see 2 types but I'm not sure what one applies to mine......or could it simply be a bad module and not necessarily the whole seat pad?

I believe your vehicle may be under a recall...have you done any research into that issue? If it is under the recall...you're wasting time not contacting BMW USA. If you've never taken your vehicle to a BMW dealership which would share your contact info with BMW NA (USA) in which they would be able to contact you. If this the case...you can go directly to the BMWusa.com website and create contact info so that BMW USA knows that you are the owner and if there's a recall or need for notification of your X5's VIN...they can send documentation to your address. They can't contact anyone they don't know.

There are also websites that can tell you if your X5 is under a recall...they should be easy to find doing a google search.

EDIT: just did a google search (typed "BMW X5 airbag recall website") and this was the top result: https://www.bmwusa.com/safety-recalls.html

Hmmm, this is very interesting. I saw the same thing you came up with about the recall though BMW N.A. Says no open recalls for my vin. I think this is going to require a trip to my local BMW shop or possibly have my indy research it some more. Its clearly connected with the seat belt warning issue which make me think it is the recall issue. Thanks for the quick response. I'm going to hop on this straight away.

Jim
