amancuso is on a distinguished road
Amancuso's 2004 4.8is thread.

So in a whirlwind trip, we drove to Chicago to pick up the X5. To say that I love this car is an understatement. Here is the timeline.

Thursday 10/5 4PM: Decide to leave a day early to get to the Dealership for Friday afternoon instead of Saturday.

Friday 10/6 12:30 PM: About an hour out from the dealership we get a call from them telling us that while the car was in detail, the susp inactive warning came on, and the error was from the compressor. They said the part will arrive at 1 and they will install it, it should take about 2 hours.

1:30 PM: Arrive at Dealership. Have a conversation with our salesman, who recommends a cool Irish style pub we can wait at while the repairs are performed. While at the pub I decide to take a walk over to Best Buy on Michigan Ave, which was only a few blocks away, to pick up a cassette adaptor and and magnetic phone holder for the ride home to listen to satellite radio.

4:00 PM: Get the call, it's all ready! Head over to the dealership and there it is sitting in front of the dealership looking gorgeous! We get the deal done and head out around 5:15 to visit some friends 2 hours further west in Rockford, IL.

7:30 PM: It was raining and super windy, but the X performed great, took a while to get used to driving it, but never felt uncertain.

Saturday 10/7: 9:00 AM: After some more chatting and breakfast we hit the road and plan to make it as far as Cleveland, OH for an overnight stop. The winds were so strong most of that day I really learned how to handle the X in high wind conditions.

Saturday 6:45 PMish: We arrive in the Cleveland area, but at this point I am not feeling tired enough to stop, we decide to continue on the journey and stop for dinner at an Ohio rest area. After eating we proceed out towards Pennsylvania and see how far we can get.

Saturday 9:00PM: Clarion, PA. I figure I'm feeling a little tired, so let's stop and continue in the morning. Get to a hotel and we're told that the entire town is booked solid due to an Autumn leaf peeping festival. The decision is made to just keep heading east after some refreshment.

Sunday 1:45AM: Finally arrive at home in New Jersey.

It's a 2004 4.8is with 81,700 miles on it. California car with many service records. Looking forward to becoming a part of the X community.
