The ”cat” arrived today. Btw is there some kind of shortering for catalytic converter. In sweden we call them ”katt” (katalysator) that is the same word as for cat in swedish

I guess there is two ”honeycombs” inside the cat. The one on the outlet looks good. Btw this is the one sat on the car

Catalytic converter failure 4.6is

Cut the pipe to the exhaust a bit to short see if i use the ”sleeve” and weld both sides. Or if i buy the clamp intended for this job. Kind of odd diametre on the pipe. No more maraccas from underneath

Yeah I think the OE cat carries a resonator between the two honeycomb materials thus making the structure longer than those in aftermarket.

I have never heard a definitive reason why, but assume it is to balance pressure drop due more bends and length on the drivers side.
This is 100% correct! Most people don't know this, but it's true, the piping is different on either side of the 4.6is.

For the 4.8is it went up to 60mm on both sides and larger connecting pipes between the resonator and mufflers, hence the better stock sound.

Ok, i first thought about open the old cat. But i dont want to ruin more of the expensive metalls inside, and will sell it get a little money back.
