The deathrattle from underneath is gone. Butt ugly weld, first i had to much power on and blew a hole. After that i had serious problems with the wire feeding. Think i need to use the mig more often. But there is no leaks, and it sounds real great again

I have also a rattle on the driver side and a cat unefficency failure on my 4,8is.

But the cat works, I had some emmission test here in germany and the result was ok

So I will replace the after cat lambda sensor and I hope there is some loosen heatshield..

My car also passed emission test. The rattle was most present on idle, and when giving wery light gas. It feels wery good to have it rattle free again. Good luck with your rattle, hope its just a heatshield come loose

The catalytic material will still work if it has broken away. It will just start to break down, potentially cause restriction and reduced power and fuel economy. The emission test doesn’t really capture this issue until the unit is really far gone.

I am going to sell the old cat for ”scrap value” tomorrow, just wanted to post a picture of how it looked in the broken end. The honey comb is split in 3 parts.
