richard, can you consolidate all your DIY video posts into a single thread? Every time you make a new one you can post in that and it will all be collected in a central location.
Seems like it would be better for your viewership and ad-sense revenue and would also benefit the community seeing everything you've made in one place. I keep coming into these DIY's expecting to see a guide but only find youtube video links.

Even quicker to pull out the heater controls (no screws at all), plug in the 3 pin connector and route it wherever.
Takes 30 seconds all up.

It would be impossible to search for a specific video or DIY if there are hundreds of posts in a single thread along with hundreds of comments and replies. I do appreciate your suggestions however. The videos used to embed on this forum (they still do on literally every other BMW forum) but since the forum owner here disabled it, now only links display. Oh well. |

But then again, I haven't seen how much room is available with the navigation unit left in and the vents removed. Maybe there is enough room to fit a hand in there? |

Mine's routed to my ashtray, along with a switched micro USB power supply that I ran from the fuses in the glove box to the ashtray, still without doing anything except pulling the heater controls. You can get a hand up there really easy. No need to remove vents.

Unsure of others, but my aux cable in my 4.4i produces very low volume. Have to really crank it up, and then at times it switches to am, which is a nice wake up in the morning at full volume.

I can confirm this is the same on my 4.4i and my E46 too, just the nature of the aux design I think. Always have to crank the volume to get to a good baseline

Regarding the low volume, the radio preset buttons (1-6) adjusts the input level of the OEM AUX cable. While using AUX press 6 to maximize the input level and accordingly the audio volume. This is not documented in the BMW kit, I happened upon this somewhere, possibly on this Forum. Worked for me, AUX volume is about equal to the radio.
