4x4/DSC warning light on

hey guys. i have a 2006 3.0i X5 with 87k miles on it.
i recently got the car and i didn't really drive it because i wanted to change a few things before. ever since i got the car i have the tire pressure warning light on and the 4x4 warning light comes on after about 100-200 meters of driving. no other warning lights.
i did some research on google and most of the people that have the 4x4 light on, also have the break and abs on also. this is not my case.
i found several others that had the 4x4 light on as soon as they start the car, and they fixed the issue(in most cases) after changing the battery/alternator.
but in my case...in order for the 4x4 to come on, i have to drive the car.
has anyone had this exact issue?

thanks a lot!

235 65 r17 - tires are in very bad condition; i will have to replace them. before i do that however, i want to replace the rear upper control arms....probably this weekend if i have time.

i recently purchased the bmw scan tool 1.4.0...i did a scan today on the car and the ABS module was showing a steering angle sensor issue(if i remember correctly) i will double check tomorrow...i think it's possible that this might be the cause...not sure though, because in the tool there is another section (LEW) - steering angle sensor, and this one wasn't showing anything.

Have you completed the steering wheel lock to lock steps?

one more thing that i noticed yesterday while i was scanning the car...if i stop the car and leave it idleing and wait for 5-10 minutes, the error goes away on it's own(not sure if the fact that i was running the scan has anything to do with this but i doubt it). did this happen to you also?

did you diy this issue or you took it to indy/stealer ?
