Hood won’t open from front

Just concluded a search with limited usefulness.

My inside footwell hood latch will release the hood part way, and the grill lever pops out as it should. But pulling that lever does not release the hood - is there a good tip on how to get it to open?

Looks like I will be needing to replace some cables and/or latches. But gotta get it open first!

Thanks
Mike

Sorted.

Turns out the under the hood portion was a bit out of alignment so I lubed everything up and set it right. Probably not long for this world so i’ll put that set of cables etc on my todo list.

I opened it after putting a light on it to see the mechanism. I thought the hook wasn’t moving with the lever, but it was just staying caught - so I pushed it aside with a tool and it slipped out of the guide. Then once open used a bit of bending to adjust it.

My secondary latch handle snapped off in my hand a while ago. It's not a great design putting at least 5-10x the force on the lever than it should. I simply attached a short piece of paracord I can fish out with my finger. 90% reduction in effort to move the secondary latch so I didn't bother replacing to make it 10x as difficult.
