Help Needed. 04 E53 4.4 CV boot part number.

Hi Everyone,

I need help to identify my 04 X5's outer CV boot part number. My passenger side outer boot is cracked. Even my dealer cannot tell me which below part # is for my VIN. My dealer's parts dept told me I have to look into the axle to know.



Type A Part # 31607507402
Type B part # 31607565316

Can anyone tell from the picture below? look to me like Type B, but searching here, seems most people get the Type A?

Outer boot uses type B ring Inner boot uses type A.

One more question for the gurus. Not sure if I should open a new thread. Since about one year ago, the X's passenger side also having some pulsed vibration and sound whenever the RPM gets to 2.6k to 3K. Its like "Hooon.... Hoon ..hon ..hon. hon. hon". The vibration wasn't that bad from inside the car, but the sound is pretty obvious. and it start from 2.6k rpm to 3K no matter in which gear and speed. the pulses gets faster and faster until 3k rpm and after that, the vibration and sound just kind of blend into the louder engine sound and vibration. I am not sure if I am making sense. But that's how I can describe it in my poor English. If I put in N gear and just step on the gas, the vibration and sound reduced but still can be felt.

My indy guy original though that was my passenger front side wheel bearing was going out (tire also show more usage on passenger front compare to rest of 3). so replaced bearing. But the problem still there. (Tire problem seems gone)

Now he is thinking that may be passenger side engine mount is going out. What are your opinions?

Drive train stuff is speed dependent. And as logical to say engine mount if it's an RPM dependent thing but it could be anything attached to the engine vibrating. Be a bad bearing on the AC or alternator or water pump. It could be a pipe or a hose that are fitting is loose so it just has a sympathetic resident frequency. An engine stethoscope could help you find the source
