Question E53 2006 X5 3.0i M54B30 exhaust camshaft position sensor issue, and question.

Hi everyone, I'm new here and I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether I put my new exhaust camshaft position sensor in correctly. I put bit of oil around the green rubber seal and put said part into its housing area on my engine block. However, I'm not sure whether I put it in right because I can see the green rubber seal. Is the sensor suppose to seat flush with the engine block to which I am then putting the 5mm bolt back into it securing it to engine block? My email address is [email protected] thank you.

And does anyone know if we can purchase the smaller OBD2 can scanner wire that reads the can-bus, k-bus, etc type computer information on these BMW X5 sport activity vehicle's? Or that's something only the dealership can do because they have the precise tooling and computer equipment for said tasks?

I've only done the intake side but I think it's supposed to be flush. Look for a YouTube video

If you can still see the green o-ring, its not seated correctly.

Once the sensor is in, you have to push it firmly in the last bit, to seat the o-ring correctly. The tab where the bolt goes through should be flush with the cylinder head before inserting the bolt and tighten it. Sounds like you tightened it before it was fully seated, and its tilted and pushed the o-ring out.

I use a Creator C310 scan tool, its a hand held BMW specific scan tool, and a reasonable price.

Use a little bit of grease, oil or silicone lube on the o-ring before inserting it into the hole. In a pinch even a little KY gel will do.
