Testing Antenna Amp/Aftermarket HU
Hello, I installed a Android 2DIN Head unit to replace the ageing Business CD and after a few weeks radio reception went. I suspected the cheap chinese Fakra/ISO connector so respliced it, then tried an adapter and finally purchased another connector but no difference. I bench tested head unit with a coax but still nothing so suspect unit is defective.
Just so I am clear when dealing with seller - I reinstalled my original H/U and radio is just fine. Could there be any issue with the Antenna or diversity amp (which I am aware can fail) which might work ok with the BMW unit but not aftermarket? Any way of testing those 2 components? thx 2003 X5 E53 3.0d |

I was told by an aftermarket radio seller that my non dsp amp needed to be fed with a blue wire from my pioneer head unit (power antenna/mute button). Normally I would have left this wire safed off and stowed. It was switching power for the factory amp and antenna. I cannot access more info now because I am not home for a few days. Hope that helps

Thanks. Just searching for better antenna options. Mine has zero am reception and fm is lacking. Just searching posts for a mod that might work. I may have to put a stealth antenna in somewhere when I update the head unit and screen.
