x5 rear air suspension

Good morning all.
2001 x5 4.4 rear air suspension only . Randomly started to lose air overnight on left rear . Sometimes not for a week . Sometimes 2 days in a row.
Compressor comes on as needed, runs fine. Checked all lines, connections, both tanks, and both bags as best as I could with soapy water. No leaking that i could find .
Where it doesn't happen a lot , or consistently, i think I have ruled out a leak.
Possibly a sensor? Any ideas? Way to test ?

If you have confirm that the bag(s) are good then you may want to check the sensor for the height adjustment (not sure if the 2001 model has it).
Most of the issue on these things are the bags. Especially if you live up north with the winter weather and the salt. It eats into them over time.

But wouldn't they leak all the time ? It can go a week with no problems, then drop twi nights in a row .

Just replace the bag. Unless you literally submerge the bag in water with air in it at pressure, you can't get the soapy water everywhere, especially up inside it. Unless they have been replaced in the last 5 years that you are sure of, just replace one or both. It is a very easy job and can be done in 30 min or less. Lots of online instruction. You will be chasing it forever, when in a short time you could replace it and be done.

Is it better to just do a conversion to coil? if so, what's a good option?

I replaced both my bags with Arnott and they still leak.

I know it's a matter of preferences and some people swear by airbags. I know one thing: Almost every time I visit forum, first page will have at least few posts complaining about air issues.

Sounds like the issue may be elsewhere other than the airbags themselves? I would closely inspect the connection points if you haven't already. Cleanliness is critical. Follow official instructions to the letter. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e53-x5-4.4i-sav/

If I can get the compressor to kick back on I will check this out. Thanks for the link!
