Oil Level Sensor Wiring
I discovered the bottom of the 4.4 in my '03 E53 is quite an oily mess a few days ago, and it has degraded the sheathing around the leads to the oil level sensor at the bottom of the oil pan. I did have a DTC that read 'Oil Level Sensor Faulty', and although I installed a new sensor I don't know if it was in fact the sensor or a problem with the wiring. I have found this: Standard® S-2263 - Intermotor™ Oil Level Sensor Connector which looks to have the correct connector at one end, but if there's another connector on it suggesting this is an intermediate section of wiring that can be easily removed, mine seems much longer than the one shown here. Has anyone run into this issue? As far as the leak goes, I'm giving the vehicle to a shop to rebuild the transmission, and they said they could do the rear main seal as well. I'm not sure which if either is the issue, but those are two likely sources of all the oil I saw coming from the back of the engine. I also dropped the lower section of the oil pan and was very happy to see only an easily removable bit of varnish and small amount of soot-type stuff in a few of the crevices, but no traces of timing chain guide material. I don't know what the variable is for when the guides go south, but this SUV seems to have been well cared for. Rick |

That looks like an extension but you could probably just cut off and use it as a pigtail to replace the connector end that you need. It might be better to repair the original connector if needed. They are usaully very repairable although the part numbers for the individual pieces can be a pita to lookup. Also for that price I wonder if that is not some kind of calibration or correction piece made to be added to the circuit.

Yes, it does look like an extension piece, but I doubt it's any more than that. Some of those connectors cost the Earth. I once paid $70.00 for a TPS connector from a Ford dealership. It was otherwise NLA, and all the aftermarket once we're totally incorrect. I wonder if I can release the terminals and make a repair...I should've thought about that while I was down there, but I was in a hurry.
