Pre facelift 2003 conversion to facelift Got the headlights

Hi,

I have managed to get some e53 xenon facelift headlights new for a decent price. I always loved the facelift look and I am going for the convertion.

First thing that I have noticed is that the facelift headlights have a xenon starter input like the newer headlights this means that i need to buy new starters. Or is the starter from pre facelift usable by rewiring , connector etc.

And the car needs rewiring have any one done this ? What is the smart way to do this ?

I will post the progress thank u All

Can't say what you would need when we don't know what you have.

You are starting with which headlight set-up (halogen, HID/xenon)? And you're wanting to upgrade to what (halogen, HID/xenon, adaptive bi-xenon)?

Do they fit into the body of the pre-facelift without modification?

personally, i liked the pre-facelift front lights better than the face-lifted ones. From looking at the front of the 99-03 and the 04-06 models the front is about the same. Good Luck

I have a pre Xenon lights and the facelift lights are bi-xenon

If my understanding is correct I just need to rewire the bi-xenon headlights no aditional module ? Or change the frm / zgw ?

And yes i will need the hood, sidevenders and bumper for the convertion.

You will need to wire the bi-xenon shutters to the LCM to operate as OEM or you can tap the high beam halogen 12V to activate the shutters as an easy solution. Your high beams will be halogen and bi-xenon.

That's what I was thinking too. Fenders for sure. This is not something you do just by replacing the headlamps.

In OEM bi-xenon operation, the halogens are only flash to pass by pulling on the turn signal stalk. When you push on the stalk (normal high beam request), the shutters open for the bi-xenon operation. I don't know the X5 pin out on the LCM but on my E46, pins 2 and 36 were for the shutters. And remember, if you wire the shutters to the LCM you will need to program the LCM as bi-xenon.
