using E70 N62B48B Throttle body on E53 N62B44A

has anyone tried this?
I seen a guy ranting on fb about how a dinan TB costs 1/4 the price of a used e53 these days, so why not use a TB from an e70. they look identical from pictures yet would offer more performance than the factory one in the b44.
if thats true, these things can be had for pennies (compared to a DINAN TB) really...

84mm N62 throttle body swap - Bimmerfest - BMW Forums

well lets see.
I have a Dinan Air Intake and I have a tune on my x5 4.4i already, so maybe this E70 TB, part number 13547535308, will make a bit of a difference again over my stock e53's throttle body...
But I still have the OE MAF for a 4.4 so maybe not... Perhaps I can buy the MAF from the e70 4.8iS to go with that throttle body too
Still. Cheaper than Dinan products...

Interesting! Video looks promising but I honestly have no idea if it will work or not - definitely keep us posted and I wish you all good luck

I need to check realoem.com but I wonder if the MAF from an e53 is same between the 4.4 and 4.8iS (and yes it is, p/n:13627566988, so that wont help) or

Perhaps an e70 4.8iS could be a nice upgrade compared to a Dinan MAF too...
lets see what the e39 guys did for a MAF upgrade equal to or better than a Dinan

Edit:

ROFL: Just saw the link was from the E39 forum. Yeap. That was just what I was thinking ab.

This was one of the Dinan 'secrets' in the E39 world. From what I recall, the enhanced Dinan TB/MAF was the same part from either the E34 V8 or the 4.6is. I know the Dinan intake manifold was only available for the 2000 and up models bc it was- you guessed it- the intake with the wider runners from the non-VANOS V8's from the E34 into LCI E39 M62 models. I bought my 'Dinan' intake manifold for $100 at a pick yard.

That's not even 1/2 as good as the 540's suspension upgrade for the front sway: The exact part as the E39 M5 except it was painted blue.

Same as m62 intake vs m62tu/dinan I suppose. In for more info. My n62b44 is plenty fun but a bit extra is always nice.(That's what she said)
