E53 ABS Sensor registors different wheel speed

Hi guys,
have a 2001 X5 E53 3.0L - we just swapped out the 2 front knuckles with used but very good conditioned knuckles that had bearings (used) pre-instaled and the front right knuckle came with an ABS sensor already installed (which I left in because it looked like it was in good condition & they are a PIA to take out) - everything mechanical is functioning 100% BUT: The trifecta (which wasn't lite before) got triggered, so I diagnosed it using live data: shows the front right wheel speed is double the 3 other wheels. Any ideas? Abs sensor? Bad bearing? How should I fix?
Thanks in advance.

Most likely a bad wheel sensor. The wheel bearing doesn't have a tone ring on it like later date X5, and X3. Just replace it with one of your old sensor that wasn't throwing the trifecta of light before the swap.

Ok, thanks for the info. I still haven't developed the 'touch' to get the old ABS sensors out of the hub. I break them in there all the time...Tried using a screw driver to pry them out, tried the wiggle method, tried anger-frustration-yelling+swearing method - All the same result - comes out in 2 pieces instead of one! Any ideas?

- Spray some lubricant in there, let it soak, then slowly remove it.

Do you pry them out with a screw driver? Or wiggle them out with pliers?

They don't have an index rib or notch I rotate them left and right while removing after a spray of liquor wrench equivalent.

I have a bigger problem snapping off the bolt holding them in

See, that's the funny thing: I've removed about 10 or so bolts and never had one snap but as for the actual ABS sensor, well... I'm 0 for 10!

Taping better than slow twisting. Tap on the "flag" were the bolt goes with a small pin punch and tiny hammer (I have a 6oz brass hammer for such). Use penetration fluid like mentioned once you get it to turn a little bit spray and wait. Come back a few hours later spray ones more an tap back and forth until it moves with less effort at that point it should wiggle out.

I've had to take out 3-4 of these for bearing changes got them all out in one piece and reused them. One I broke the screw off but enough was left to index the angle so I just wrapped in Teflon to make it stay with friction.

For the "next time" wrap yours in Teflon just one wrap and it will come out much easier. Could also use some anti sieze.

I find that if I use my 18V impact driver on small bolts and brake bleeder screws, they come out a lot easier and usually in one piece. It also works for the small screws that are used to secure the rotors to some hubs.
