There is also a wonderfull tool called testo (google "testo bmw") that works with ediabas (like INPA) and the INPA Cable and reads live and very fast data from the sensors. It allowed me to see that one of my camshafts sensors was intermitently cutting off. It may help you see if something is amiss. I'm not very familiar with the DISA valve but I'm assuming removing it introduces a lot more air into the engine. It a lot more aire helps it start, its possible you have one or more injectors that are stuck open (bad fuel maybe). You might want to remove them, get a bunch of graduated test tubes and see if over a few seconds cranking you get an equal level of fuel. If you try this test, I recommend that you get a piece of wood and drill non through holes to hold the tubes in the right place and straight up. Alternatively you could get the right size hose and put a piece on each test tube and seal the ending, measure the height of the fuel. At this point (and I'm hoping its for nothing) you might want to test the compression of your cylinders.

Thank you for the replies. I have been working on the things suggested here. I have the inpa cable and software on the way.
Right now I have tested all the fuel system and injectors. The fuel aspect checks out good on all ends. I checked compression in all of the cylinders and had 160 in cylinders 1 and 2. 3-6 had no compression at all. I put some marvel into it hoping it was just stuck rings. I haven't had a chance to check 5 and 6 but 3 and 4 still do not have compression. The car did start up when only 1,2 and 5, 6 cylinders had plugs in them. I forgot to pull the fuel fuse when testing. I thought the car may start at that point so I put the plugs into 3 and 4 and then nothing. Back to no fire. I can assume this isn't a timing issue because it is not across the board on cylinders. Anything else I can check before having to get too deep into the engine. There is a n54b30 near me for a decent price with 100k less miles. Id like to try to get this one going but if I have to get into pulling the head, it may be worthwhile to swap the engine out. |
