E53 Side Mirror Options?

Hey Guys.. Something ive never seen are aftermarket side mirror options for E53 X5s. My mirror housings are pretty scratched up and not really feeling how boxy they are and much they stick out. Going to have to replace them but wanted to find other options. Any ideas or advice for aftermarket options? anything from other M models that can be retrofitted?

We would have to go custom, a member named Tom retrofitted E46 M3 mirrors onto his X5, and looked great.

Following. As long as you can get panoramic glass I would be interested. Not going back to flat glass no way. I have to be very careful when I drive other people's cars because my car has no blind spot. It's something you get very used to.

The motor and control mechanism is shared with a bunch of other makes, I just stumbled onto this list looking for the spares to fix the loose motor.
  • Range Rover 3 2002-2012;
  • Range Rover Evoque 2011-On;
  • Chrysler Jeep Grand Cherokee Second generation (WJ) (1999–2004);
  • Chrysler Cherokee Jeep Liberty (KJ) 2002-2007;
  • Land Rover Freelander 1 First generation (1997–2006);
  • BMW E46 1998-2005, Rover 75 1999-2005;
  • Mini Cooper MK-1 2001-2008

Since the housing of the motor built into the mirror attaches to the base, I'm assuming you could probably swap out the whole upper of any of these and bolt it onto the lower that goes into the door frame. Not sure about plastic / bodywork clearance.

holly smokes! thanks for the info!

upon doing some ebay shopping and research a came upon a much cheaper solution for my floppy mirror.

non folding motor
Manual-Fold-Side-Mirror-Housing

with folding motor
Side-Mirror-Folding-Motor-Repair

im gonna try this first and then continue to search for options.

Yeah,

I'm not exactly sure what the fault is in my sloppy mirror. I'm pretty sure it's the housing, but when digging around the Jeep forums, many people also said the gear set that go between the motor and housing ring also may fail. I'll probably end up ordering both the housing and gear kit.

For everyone mentioning tightening the torx screws, if they are loose, that will give you a Z axis slop (up and down), but if you have X to Y slop (rotational), the Torx are not it, and more than likely the housing or gear assembly. with the links you posted being the fix parts.
