I sold my e53 about 5 years ago. I do not recall how many bolts (8?) to remove but if you look at REALOEM.com you can see how many. I think there are different lengths. There are two solenoids to remove on each side ( v8) they are held in by a spring clip and one bolt. When reassembling be sure these are pressed in all the way. When I restarted mine they were not and after 30 seconds engine timing went way off.
