my module is corrupt as well, guess I will resort to ebay to flip through them and find a good one that will be able to reset when needed.
My E39 also suffers from this problem, but its module is one generation older and apparently there isn't one good used one on the market. Its either buy new (which may be defective right out the box) or upgrade to the last generation with some slight wiring changes and a reprogram.

I also have the older version (2.6) on my 2001 X5 3.0i. Three modules to find a good working one. The seller is based in Europe and he/she followed through in getting me the working module. As you know shipping is not cheap and it's on his/her expense, not mine. It all worked out well fro me and hopefully for you and the original poster as well. If you need the seller name, let me know and I will PM it over to you. |

Bought this off the e-bay and even though it is an earlier version it worked great and airbag light is out!

Know this thread is a month old, but am just starting to look at an airbag light on my daughters 2005, so wanted to post here first. Both dash and overhead lamps are lit, so think it is passenger side related, but reading tells me there are many possible causes and that I should be able to read a code that will give better direction.
I already have a Bluedriver by Lemur as well as some ELM327 clones that I run with Torque and a couple other Apps, but they only read basic data on the BMW and my older cars, leaving me disappointed with them... Before I go crazy and buy a unit hoping it will work, I want to try to make sure I get a unit that can read the airbags codes so am looking for a scanner that can do that (and hopefully one that I can also use on a 99 suburban and 98 Jag that I have, if I buy the modules for them as well). I read online that the Foxwell NT510 may be able to read the airbag module and see that andrewwynn bought one & possibly other members have one. Did it work OK for you well on reading the airbag codes and is it something you would recommend as being worth the purchase for other cars? I have the car in the drive for 3 weeks while my daughter is off on holiday(along with her lab puppy), so have time to order a unit, if it will do what I need. Airbag light
NT510 will read/erase airbag codes.
I have an internal error on wife's car that won't reset (because a damaged module) but doesn't set off the light on the dash but does when it's really cold. It does an awesome thing though: shows the BMW part number for the module with the fault

Tx for that...Dealer wants $130 to read codes and they are over an hour away, so 2 reads pay for the machine - and I expect it would need 2 as I think it isn't a transient fault and something will need to be replaced (likely the seat mat) once I know where the trouble is so the code can be cleared.

First sort out some diagnostic tool that you feel comfortable to use. I bought K-Line Diagnostic Cable from a web based provider (https://www.cable-shack.co.uk/products.php) to figure out what was the issue. Once you know the issue you can then take action to solve the problem and good luck!

Passenger seat mat is covered under extended warranty. You should have gotten a letter. Maybe yours is too new to not be covered but definitely look into it. Ours are too old to be covered but I noticed yours is 4 years newer.
