kavala is on a distinguished road
I have an '05 645Ci with the N62 engine.
The symptoms described above are what I get with my vehicle.

I thought the time after startup, until the surging occurs, is significant .
Sometimes leaving work, I start the car and drive off immediately.
Then other times I may have forgotten something and so I go
back inside work and invariably, when I return to the car, the
engine is surging.

I haven't carefully read all the posts above.

However, I thought I read somewhere (not here) that the engine airflow
is controlled by the butterfly in the throttle body on start up until such time
as the car warms a bit and then it switches to Vanos/Valvetronic
control and then the throttle stays wide open.

If this is correct, then maybe it is that transition period where it is
switching over that causes the surging ?

I've had my car checked for everything with many parts swapped
and replaced. However the mechanics are still scratching their heads.

Can anyone confirm the operation of the throttle body viz-a-viz what
happens at cold start and after warm up ?
