Question Stupid memory seat question...

When selecting the memory seat number, the manual says "Briefly press memory button" ..i've been doing a press and hold the button until i get the desired configuration . How long is "briefly press" suppose to be? 1-2 seconds?

On my 2001 4.4i you press the red button and it will light up. While it is lighted press one of the other 3 black buttons and the settings will be saved to the black button you pressed. To recall the settings just press the black button.

my question is when recalling the (already) programmed seat memory number, how long is a "brief push"? 1-2 seconds or less?

Sounds like you are pressing it ONCE you are in the car.. This is the way to do it.

Unlock the car, open the door and PRESS your memory button BEFORE you sit in the car.

With mine, if I sit in whilst it`s adjusting in to place, it stops, so you have to set the seat position whilst you are stood waiting to get in to the car.

I think you can be in the car. It works for me while I sit on the seat. However, it will not work if the car is on. Once the car is on, you have to hold the button down to get to the full saved position. This is a safety feature, if you pressed another button while driving (car on), it could change your whole seating position (too close or too far back from the steering wheel/pedals) and that is dangerous. That's why with the car off you can just push the button once for it to work.

What you can do is program your key for your desired driving position and let's say your wife or GF Key for her own. Depending on which key your use to unlock, the seat will just position itself for that driver. That's what I did for my wife and I and I don't need to touch those buttons anymore.
Hope that helps!
