M5/M6 to X5

Does anybody know if the new M5 or M6 steering wheel (with paddle shifts) would fit on an 06 X5 ?

M Series X5?

Has anybody heard if an M Series X-5 is in the works? Why change steering wheels when you can just buy an entire vehicle....An M Series 4.8is---now we're talking!

BMW has always said that there will never be a M version of the X3 or X5. Besides the motors would not work well in an X5 anyway. The new V10 may have 500hp but its at 8000rpm and it has no usable torque for a heavy vehicle. That is a race engine and would be stupid in a 5000lb suv. But the V12 from the 760il is very usable in an X5 and would make the X haul ass. Its got tons of torque everywhere.

What i heard is that the new 2007 X5 will be available in 3.0i and 3.0D, 4.8i from the curent 4.8 will replace the 4.4 as the base V8. and for the IS replacement they may go to an alpina 5.0 v8 motor or use the V12 from the 760 and call it a 6.0is. either the v8 or v12 will be putting out around 450hp And they will all only be offered in auto trans as usual.

BMW will never call them (SAV) M.....just too heavy.
But look for high-powered turbocharged versions in the next X5 to compete with the new ML63, Cayenne turbo and the likes.

By the way i really dont think that the new m5 or m6 wheels will fit a current x5. Just from past experience. Becuase usaully what ive seen is that that current generation vehichles like a E39, E46 and E53 will be able to swap most parts. But know your talking about the next gen 5 and 6 series. So i don thinks so becuase thinks usually change alot with new models. But i am sure the new X5 in 07 will be able to use the E60 ans E 63 steering wheels pretty easily.
