Still serious! 2 problematic E 53s

Two questions: i
Cars got 250000 on it, engine still a sweet runner, just put $1400 into rear axles and diff seals goin after this noise. I’m worried about the trans condition. Don’t want to drop another $1500 plus into the transfer case and have the trans go south.

Is also bought a 2002 with 68000 on it thinking I was heading for the land of milk and honey. Been chasing codes and playing component roulette ever since. Can anybody recommend a good OBD2 code reader, or a good Hyundai dealer.

They’re sucking me dry.
Thanks
Mike

Best code reader is INPA on a laptop. The Foxwell NT510 is pretty good, or so I’ve heard.

@Root, considering all the money you're dropping, i will advise you purchased a laptop with the dealership diagnostic software like INPA and etc. the laptops are like $175.

I bought my Panasonic Toughbook CF30 running XP for $50 off fleaBay shipped. INPA software is available on the net. I also run BMW Scanner 1.4 and between the 2 programs, I have not come across anything I can't scan or program. You will need the cables for each program but they are less than $20 each on Amazon or fleaBay.

I'm using an old macbook with Windows XP installed on it.

I have INPA but I thought I could use it with the PA Soft OBD2 adapter but guess not based on what Overboost is saying.

Also the INPA I downloaded didn't show E53 chassis
