No. It runs great! Thanks again for all the replies.

Like I said, if it didn't start right after you filled with gas there is a good chance the purge valve is at fault. Like bcredliner pointed out, you should re-check your work as the replacement valve could be bad as well or there might be another purge related problem(maybe vacuum hose), especially since the no-start happened right after you replaced the purge valve.

Sounds good. I will look at it again. Here is the purge valve I bought.

It's always worth the additional expense to purchase OE or OEM parts unless the aftermarket parts are known upgraded or performance versions.

I was waiting for someone to say that.
The “SES” light is now off. We will see. If it has a hard time starting again after refueling, I will order a OEM fuel purge valve.
Thanks again everybody. I really appreciate your comments and help.

My issue might end up being something else, I ordered a new fuel pump relay and will see if this improves my cold start.

UPDATE 10/31 - It was the fuel pump relay, finally crapped out and with a new relay started right up.

UPDATE! Problem fixed! I ordered another “new” purge valve that was an OEM BMW PV. Problem solved. “SES” turned off without me manually resetting it. I just filled up with fuel and the X5 started right up.
The cheap “new” Made in China was faulty right out of the box.
Thanks to all for your help.
Lesson learned

Regards,
Dave Dykstra
