Andrewwynn....thanks again....i checked over and over leads jn the back where battery sits...the posts on battery...the + up front in the firewall and cable leading from this down to starter alternator all good tight clean....nipped up as best i could bolts on starter too...anyhow 2.2kw is the starter motor rating..cant do maths now as been a long day....side note battery guy said we will measure volts at starter, not sure how thats gonna show us amp draw and prove disprove starter being a culprit.
Anyway yup petrol x5 180-200amps diesel 200-250amps is max when cranking....ok nite gents and have a good day

Drivers side front fender well. That way if I forget to unplug it when leaving out it unplugs itself and doesn't get backed over.

Not to mention the wires are nice and short going to the battery post under the hood.

The link in the above post has more pics and info on it.

2.2kW = 183A (at 12v) or 244A at 9v.

Assuming 0.01 Ohms in the starter circuit, your 392A equates to a 3.9v drop, leaving on 8.1v on the starter motor - or close to 3.2kW.

But there's a few assumptions in that statement, so don't read too much into it!

Those are "reality check" estimates and sound about perfect.

Sir andrew 250euros for a varta, approx 285 dollars, price bit high for a european country, but the catch is the warranty, whereas in mainland Europe they may give up to 5 years warranty, here it will only have 2, so not sure opting for this is viable....Being pedantic as I am, I made inquiry direct to bosch regarding my sliver plus I had installed, seller here gave 2 years, whereas in europe was 4! they told me it is down to individual reseller what warranty he/she gives....EU for you

Slightly off topic but here is a reply ctek sent me when I asked when using a ctek mxs 5.0 if it needs to be set to motorcycle mode+agm (as was suggested by them to another xoutpost member)

Subject: Re: Product information advice on CTEK MXS-5.0 how to charge correctly and agm [ ref:_00D0Y1Ilwv._5001vlg8KQ:ref ]

Hi

You can with good result charge a 100Ah AGM battery - but you need to use CAR +AGM settings.
MC mode is too week for a 100Ah battery, charging only with 0,8A. CAR mode is charging with 5A.

Best regards

Have been running Battery Tender with alligator clips to under hood lugs since Day 2 of having our X, 17+ years ago. That includes several winters of storage, when BT is attached full time and is set to come on a couple three times a week for a day.

Used on AGM batteries for decades and have never had a start/batt/alt problem...

Also, 3 motorcycles get the same treatment regularly.

I am not even close to being electrically/electronic capable, but my BTs work fine, my AGM batts work fine, and those under hood lugs are handy.

The Duracell H8 AGM battery at my Sam's Club was just at $169 and Walmart has an EverStart brand AGM H8 for $149

Lucky,ALL prices here are fixed sure it is a cartel nearly any 95ah AGM regardless of brand is 200euros and up about 220 us dollars and up, and whilst very tempted to go for one the fact that the warranties given on them are pants I will probably go for cheaper lead acid
