Winter tyre sizes.

Hi this is my first post, from the UK, I've spotted a few posts regarding winter tyre sizes but I'm still not yet 100% sure on the exact tyre size I should go for.

I've purchased some standard 17' rims for my 2006 E53 X5 3.0d M-Sport with the hope I can save using and potentially ruining the standard 19's. I've decided on all terrain tyres as there's no point me going for anything more aggressive as there's a very small chance I'll take it fully off road.

I would like to get as bigger tyre as I can on these rims without sacrificing things like warning lights and on road handling. I know the standard tyres on these 17's are 235/65's if I put 265/70's all round will this trigger a great deal of negative issues? I just want to put a set of tyres on it for the winter months here, but of ice, sometimes a bit of snow but nothing too mental.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

Matt
