Dealer put wrong ATF after transmission swap
So I was bored over the weekend and decided to comb through the service history records given to me by the previous owner and I know the previous owner had the 6hp26 replaced under warranty 3 yrs ago @ 105k miles.
Now I'm at 118k and car shifts completely smooth and drives fine but looks like they used BG ATF p/n BG3123 which is an universal ATF. From my own previous personal experience with 6hp26 transmissions these can only take the ZF specific fluid and/or very few other compatible fluids and an "universal" is certainly not one of them. Now I'm just concerned for the long run of any damage that this could of caused and what fluid to use when it's time to service it again which I plan to do at 150k. Go with BG again if it has performed well to not mix or switch to ZF? Can I hold that dealer accountable for anything if there is something wrong later down the road due to fluid issues? With one no longer the original owner of the service done and two warranty has expired. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
