6HP transmission Firmware Update
I have read already a few threads about the transmission update and got a VM setup with INPA and WinKFP. Also got the 53.3 SP-Daten files and imported them into WinKFP for E53 with the help of the"BMW Coding Tool". With INPA I verified the EGS number and it is 7 557 063. That is the confirmation that my transmission is still running on the stock firmware. The car is a 2005 4.4i with Z6HP 6-speed transmission and fluid has been changed 2 years back which sorted out almost all issues I had. But what I sometimes get is that the transmissions bangs into gear from a rolling stop. This is exactly one of the issue the update is supposed to fix. But what I don't understand is the actual flashing process. This is what I followed: 1. Open WinKFP and enter Comfort mode 2. Enter the Assembly number. 3. Update ZUSB and choose ECU Family.(F3) 4. Enter VIN (F4) and hit (F8) Done. 5. Prog ZB-Update (F3) My problems start already at the second step (2.). When I enter the EGS assembly number 7 557 063 I get an error that this doesn't exist. But I am able to find the update one (7 564 917). Do I need to use the old (existing) or the updated number? After typing in the updated number it tells me the ECU I have to update is a GKE19. Is that correct? At the last step prior flashing a popup is supposed to come and to show me the old and new assembly number. I do not get there because WinKFP stops with a communication error (ECU doesn't exist). Any help would be highly appreciated. Our gearbox specialists here in Down Under are not able to update the transmission and I rather don't want to take my car to the dealership. Holger |
