mirror motor gearbox's

really sill question
are the gearboxes placed on the mirror bases the same orientation?
I shall explain , ive got my passenger (driver side to you yanks) never worked bought new bits and it lasted 2 minutes then died again , if you look at the drivers side (your pass) the gearbox is positioned one way along with the insert that the actual mirror holds onto. id have thought the other side would have been a reflection of that side, ?.
reason for asking is when I took the old GB apart I never marked the way it all came apart,
DUH
I took both my mirrors off a bit ago , and looked, and tried to mirror the opposite way, didn't work , or I did something wrong
or, could some really nice person take some close up pics of the gearbox in situ, so I can work out how to line it up , notice the black top part of the unit

told you it was a daft question

Here's how my motor sits on my right side (my passenger side, your Driver side):

This picture was taken standing parallel to the door looking at it from the top.

Here's my thread of my problem with mirrors not working, long story short even with replacement mirrors it ended up being the mirror/window switches on the door panels:

The other side sits "mirroring" the other side.

From what I recall playing with the mirror motors, they are side specific.

The unit bottom cores are oriented, and the black plastic notches you see also are too.

The casing has a convoluted spring system inside and alignment pin that only fits on one way or else nothing works.

yeah I think that's where lies the problem , as I said , I just took it apart without properly marking it, and that's why it broke
silly me,
looks like more messing
