No communication between TC module and actuator

Ok guys, I’ve got the light trio again. I’ve changed the actuator gear a couple times over the years. The last time i got the lights, I got another actuator, put a new gear in and put it back together. Still got the lights. It’s got new fluid, new actuator, new gear, and a different sensor. I had an Indy check the codes and he told me no communication between TC module and actuator. His solution obviously was that I need a new transfer case. It’s a 2006 with 167k. Well maintained and cared for. I haven’t bought a new sensor because one came with the other actuator and surely they both weren’t bad (I swapped them in and out)
Anyway, before I bend over for a new transfer case and input shafts, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Check the wiring. My transmission connector was full of water and caused all sorts of misery.

Clean all the connectors and see if the codes clear.

Do you have a Foxwell NT-510? Use it to check the voltage to the TC motor and also check and see what the classification resistor is... Deep in the weeds you'll find the resistor listed with actual, expected and assigned code (they should all match) mine is "H", I know I always harp on the resistor but it does get overlooked and it's an easy fix.

I don’t have a scan tool. I’ve been eyeballing a lot of them. I want to buy one, but there are so many and I don’t know shit about shit when it come to getting one. I’ve watched a bunch of YouTube reviews of scan tools and foxwell hasn’t been mentioned. If you did it all over again would you buy the foxwell?

I have yet to see a better option than the foxwell NT510 for the E53. I think the 520 would do the identical job it might be a replacement model.

The important facts are that it works with ABS, air bag and will activate many things for testing. Eg kick ac compressor on to make sure the clutch works or secondary air pump etc etc.

Exactly what Andrew said, along with the fact that it's easy enough to use without any instruction and that it's usually under $200 USD from Amazon and you'll get your money back the 1st time you don't have to pay the stealer for a scan.

thanks for the info. I’ll pick one up. I’ve been meaning to get a scan tool for years.
