Front window removal when jammed!?? E53

Am trying to replace a front window regulator.... have read the comprehensive pelicanparts instructions... how ever the bit that has me stumped is...

"Lower the window until it is about 5 1/2 inches up when measured near the lock pull. " ---- then you can undo boltsto release glass.. etc "

I cant because the window is jammed fully up and unresponsive...!!!

Any suggestions?
thanks

Gotta cut the cables to free it.

BTW, that 5.5" (I think I saw 140 mm in the Bentley) is the location where the screws that hold the window glass to the regulator (through the black plastic window clips) can be accessed through holes in the regulator rails. Just in case that helps your understanding of what's supposed to happen.

So "whatever it takes" to get the window down. Hopefully you can do it without cutting cables, unless you're replacing the whole regulator, in which case that's OK. Maybe you can figure out exactly what is jammed and fix that enough to allow motion.
