I’ve had lousy AM reception as well. Waiting for an answer....

I have lousy am reception as well. It seems to be a problem with X5's and how their antennas are set up. I've given up trying to find a solution. If someone has one I'd love to hear it.

I'll have to check the x5 I just bought. The 2013 e70 has great am reception and so did the 2000 323i when it had the factory radio.

Plus another on the sketchy AM reception...
Way back when, circa 2001, the dlr did 'something' to it based on an old TSB, which I can't find. The AM side worked slightly better for awhile, but it quickly reverted to its old ways. Have not read of a real fix and have given up. GL, mD

Mine is the opposite. FM reception sucks, AM is good. Mine is effected more when the rear defroster is on. I lose FM completely but AM works.
Tried a different radio module BM53 and still the same, even tried to bypass the factory antenna and added an aftermarket one connected directly to the radio module. Slight improvement but still fuzzy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Wonder if any of these might be of help for those with FM radio reception issues? The antenna connections in the pics below...are behind the AV components and insulation below the rear left cargo window (where the radio antenna is located on Tourings and SAVs)
